Job Summary:
The Network Administrator is responsible for the overall maintenance, administration, and management of the organization's network infrastructure. They ensure the smooth operation of the network, troubleshoot network issues, and implement necessary upgrades and enhancements. The Network Administrator collaborates with internal IT teams and external vendors to ensure network security, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, install, configure, and maintain the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless network infrastructure.
2. Monitor network performance, identify issues, and proactively implement solutions to optimize network performance and minimize downtime.
3. Ensure network security by implementing and maintaining appropriate firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and other network security measures.
4. Manage and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, load balancers, and access points.
5. Troubleshoot network problems, analyze network traffic, and provide timely resolution of network-related issues.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure for new projects or system upgrades.
7. Conduct regular network performance assessments and capacity planning to ensure the network meets user requirements and future growth.
8. Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
9. Stay updated with the latest networking technologies, industry trends, and best practices to enhance network performance and security.
10. Assist in the procurement of network equipment, software, and services, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and budgetary guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven work experience as a Network Administrator or similar role.
3. In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and network security concepts.
4. Hands-on experience with network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and access points.
5. Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
6. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs, and other network protocols.
7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve network issues.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
10. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred.
